I normally go threw slashdot to see if there are any interesting articles that I should actually read. Normally I don’t read any but a very interesting one caught my eye today. That being this article on people that advocate GPL and copyright. This article I found to make some very valid points about what people think about copyright. The main thing that many need to realize is copyright maybe is to strong but is not what hurts free software. Free Software can already come back at copyright with Copyleft licenses like the GPL. The KEY problem though is with the idea of software patients. A copyrighted program you can still implement something that does the same/similar task but do to software patents you can’t. If people would look more closely they would realize this is the problem. Most programmers don’t want some major software vender’s code since most of it is probably bloated and ugly as hell so let them keep their code just let anyone implement what they want to without stopping them.
